Silvana Resort (Nelson Treehouse)
This project started with a rough sketch and a set of constraints: match the land's natural gradient, keep bedroom dimensions consistent, get roof lines to align, and honor Pete Nelson's specific vision for the great room. My job was to turn that into something a construction crew could tangibly build from.
Working in SketchUp and AutoCAD, I developed full floor plans that accounted for the site's elevation changes across the San Juan Island terrain, standardized the room dimensions throughout, and translated Pete's spatial vision for the great room into technical drawings with accurate proportions and scale.
I took on this project to build my skills in architectural design and CAD technology. I had so much fun with this project (especially since my desk was the tailgate of my pickup truck as I worked cross-country) and it required me to move fluidly between the big picture and the millimeter-level details that would influence GC-level decisions.
